DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand….\nThe Berks Schuylkill Beekeeping Association will be offering another Introduction to Beekeeping Class in 2024. The class will be held at the Berks County Agriculture Center on Saturday\, Feb. 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, with a snow date of March 2.\nThe cost of the class is $50 which includes the 8-hour class\, new BSBA club t-shirt\, Beekeeping Basics book and lunch.\nEventbrite is being used for remote registration or you can sign up and pay for your class at any of the upcoming meetings.\nClass size is limited and will be first come first serve.

(boxes\, frames\, tools\, feeders\, suits\, extracting\, smokers…etc.) Take a walk through your bee shed and see what you can bring. This could be a great opportunity to get a bargain with the price of everything going up! Larger items may be posted in advance to generate interest in the swap meet.

DESCRIPTION:All are welcome.\nThis month’s program is Making Equipment by Steve Keller.\n“When I started beekeeping I bought all the unassembled equipment and put everything together myself. That first year I found myself needing other odds and ends like shims and entrance reducers that are very easy to make. Since then\, I have started to make all my equipment except for frames. Currently I make swarm traps\, medium and deep boxes\, inner covers\, top covers\, bottom boards\, hive stands\, entrance reducers\, escape boards\, etc. After making one or two of something I always start looking for ways to make things easier and better. I have made jigs to help with the box joints\, box frame rests\, box handles\, frame assembly\, etc. I will be presenting a PowerPoint showing some of the tools and jigs I use to make my equipment. I will also bring several of the jigs with for you to look at. This will be an interactive discussion. If you make your equipment and have any jigs or techniques\, please bring to share.”
