DESCRIPTION:For our May Second Saturday Program\, author Evans Goodling reveals the European regions\, including Germany\, France\, Switzerland\, and Great Britain\, from which Berks Countians migrated. This exploration aims to provide guests with a deeper insight into the diverse backgrounds that shape our community’s unique heritage. \nComplementing his narrative are photographs taken during Goodling’s visits to these regions\, showcasing the scenic villages\, quaint towns\, and vibrant cities where these migrants once resided.  \nThis presentation honors the enduring connections that bind distant lands with the hearts of Berks County residents. \nThis program will be held in person\, inside the BHC Museum Auditorium. The cost of this program is $5 for BHC members and $8 for non-members. DESCRIPTION:During our June Second Saturday program\, renowned barn expert\, Greg Huber\, uncovers the mysterious signs\, symbols and marks on the interiors of barns in Berks County\, many of which have very special pieces of graffiti that have never been seen before. \nThis program will be held in person\, inside the BHC Museum Auditorium. The cost of this program is $5 for BHC members and $8 for non-members. The program fee includes admission to the BHC Museum. Fees will be accepted at the door on the day of the event. Coffee\, hot tea\, juice\, and light refreshments will be made available for participants at 9:30 AM. \nAttendees must call 610-375-4375 prior to the event to reserve a space.

DESCRIPTION:Discover Hidden Barn Treasures in Historic Oley Valley! \nDuring this enriching program\, Greg Huber (the Sherlock Holmes of Pennsylvania barns)\, will share his wealth of knowledge about various Oley Valley barns\, their construction\, builders\, and mysterious etchings. Part IX includes barns that have not been featured on previous tours. \nThis tour is a guided driving tour. Carpooling is encouraged. Registration is limited to the first 12 vehicles that sign up. \nParticipants must have the ability to get in and out of their vehicle repeatedly\, climb steps\, and walk short distances. \nThe price of the trip is $35/BHC member and $45/non-member. There will be two separate tours running on May 7th. Participants must choose between an 8 AM to noon tour time\, or a 1 PM to 5 PM tour time. \nTo register\, contact Vicky Heffner\, Education Curator\, at 610-375-4375 or education@berkshistory.org.
