Water Cooler Talk: PFAS and 6PPD-q in Delaware River Basin
August 25 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

ABOUT THE LIVE WEBINAR
Learn how the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC)—a federal, multistate agency formed in 1961—works to manage, protect, and improve the basin’s vital water resources. This presentation will provide an overview of the DRBC’s water quality programs, with a focus on emerging contaminants such as PFAS and 6PPD-q. Attendees will gain insight into the Commission’s long-standing PFAS monitoring efforts, which began more than two decades ago and now support a comprehensive analysis of contamination sources. The talk will also highlight the first basin-wide survey of 6PPD-q, a chemical derived from car tires that poses a threat to aquatic life, especially salmonid species. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how these pollutants may impact the basin’s natural and recreational assets—and what steps are being taken in response.
