48th Annual Hay Creek Festival
September 6 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Step back in time 200 years and experience the rural history of the Hay Creek Valley & the Joanna Furnace Iron Works at the 48th Annual Hay Creek Festival. Held the weekend after Labor Day on September 6 – 8, 2024, families will enjoy this one-of-a-kind living history experience on the 26-acre Joanna Furnace ironmaking plantation. The event takes place from 10 am to 5 pm daily.
Visitors will see…..
Demonstrating early American craftsmen and tradesmen.
Civil War Encampment by the 50th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment & Thompson’s Independent Battery C.
Open fire cooking, beehive baking & old time food preservation presentations.
Antique engines, tractors & cars, PLUS sawmill, threshing & shingle mill demonstrations.
Hands-on activities for children including completing our Day at Joanna chores list. An archaeology adventure activity is also available.
Homemade foods including Mabel’s kettle-cooked soups (Chicken Corn Noodle, Ham & Bean, Vegetable Beef), Chicken Pot Pie, Sausage & Turkey Sandwiches, Corn Pie, Stuffed Peppers, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, French Fries, Baked Goods, Funnel Cakes, Freshly Pressed Apple Cider from the Cider Mill and MORE!
Ongoing tours of the Historic Joanna Furnace Iron Works which includes metal casting and blacksmithing demonstrations. The Charcoal Barn & Museum features a display of the iron products made at Joanna Furnace.
Shop in our Creekside Craft Market and purchase handmade wood items & furniture, jewelry, pottery, herbs, home décor items, antiques and so much more.
Early American, Folk and County Music throughout the day including the Hay Creek Gold Band and The Evans Sisters who will perform a tribute show to Patsy Cline & Friends. Ventriloquist Marian Gehman also returns on Friday of the festival.

Historic Joanna Furnace is located 3 miles N. of Morgantown on Rt. 10. (Follow signs to parking area.)
