In this series on home butchering, Courtney Poholsky, faculty in the Department of Animal Science at Penn State, and Dr. Lyda Garcia, Associate Professor of Meat Science at Ohio State University, will discuss the key items for consideration when planning both large animal and poultry harvest activities on your property. Some of these items include, but are not limited to, the following: Federal, State, and Local laws, policies, and ordinances; Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety considerations; Animal handling and welfare concerns; Effective stunning techniques and sanitary dressing procedures; as well as an interactive question and answer session.
This webinar will discuss the essential factors to consider when planning the harvest of red meat and poultry on your property.
