Fall is finally here and it’s time to celebrate with seasonal fun! In Berks County, Pa., we’re surrounded by natural beauty and agricultural industry, making this a perfect place to enjoy autumn. A recurring favorite year after year in Robesonia is Duncan’s Corn Maze. This local gem is one that you won’t want to leave off your list of fall festivities this October!
A Robesonia Staple
The Duncan family’s presence in the community’s seasonal activities dates back to 1999, when Loretta Duncan started to design corn mazes on graph paper for fun. She recruited the help of friends and family to stand throughout the field with markers so that she would be able to cut her paths properly, and thus the first Duncan corn maze came to life!
While the corn maze and farm has evolved quite a bit over the past few decades, (Loretta now uses a GPS system to help her cut the maze) the main objective has stayed the same– to bring together people from all over the region for some good old-fashioned fall fun! For the Duncan family, each year’s corn maze is a unique opportunity to invite people to explore and learn about the beloved farm, so whether you’re part of a big family yourself or just visiting solo, a visit to Duncan Farms this autumn is not to be missed!
This Year’s Activities
If you think that one corn maze is all that this event has to offer, think again! The Duncan corn maze is a full celebration of the harvest season, with a newly designed maze each year, a pumpkin patch, hayrides and so much more. The maze’s theme for 2024 is Under the Sea– visitors can find their way through a giant sea turtle, all while learning trivia facts along the way!
The courtyard area of the event features an open campfire for roasting hot dogs and smores, and a play area features a corn box, sand box and giant slide! Up for some friendly competition? Visit the gourd launcher to sling your vegetable ammunition at the newly built Miss Daisy Mazey target. You can even schedule special events for large groups, making it a perfect outing for big families, businesses, sports teams and more. Plus, with live music on Saturdays throughout the month of October, you’ll find that there’s something for everyone at Duncan Farms!
A Visit for the Whole Family
The annual Duncan Farms corn maze is appropriate for kids of all ages and welcomes dogs, so it’s a day that the entire family can enjoy. Kids five and under get in free, and you can visit Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the month of October from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the last day of the season on Sunday, Nov. 3. You only have a short time to make your visit, so don’t wait to plan your day out at the farm!
